Mary McLeod Bethune

An illustrated biography of Mary McLeod Bethune, the daughter of former slaves who wanted nothing more than to learn to read. She realized her dream and started a school so other black children could learn to read, too. She also founded a hospital and worked her whole life to improve the conditions of black people in the South.
