Author Interview: Dr. Kelsi Bracmort

Join us for an engaging conversation led by mother, Alison Gardner, and daughter, Farrah Gardner, as they discuss Dr. Bracmort’s Book Simone Visits the Museum. Book Details: Charming and genuine, Simone Visits the Museum showcases the joy of visiting a museum, portrays the excitement of city living, and celebrates the bond between mothers and daughters. Simone always wants to go, get out, and explore! It’s Saturday, and she is about to get her wish. Her mother takes her to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. While at the museum, Simone misplaces something she values, making it a great opportunity for her to learn about responsibility, paying attention to surroundings, and the importance of family. Author Details: Dr. Kelsi Bracmort is a native Washingtonian who adores DC and the rich history offered to children and young people of all ages. She was inspired to write this book with the hope that a character like Simone will inspire all children to be proud of who they are, and to explore all that DC has to offer. She earned a B.S. in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, and both a M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University. She serves as a reading mentor for Everybody Wins! DC, a program that promotes children's literacy. Special Thank You to Xana Watson for editing the video.
