Yay!” Neha cheered when she saw the snack. “I love animal crackers!”
“Me too,” Stavir said. He ate a cookie shaped like a lion.
Neha ate one shaped like an elephant. “What was that noise?” she asked.
”I didn’t hear anything,” Stavir said. He crunched on a camel-shaped cookie.
“There was definitely a noise,” Neha said. “Like a roar.”
The kids were quiet. Sure enough, there was a very faint roar. And it was getting louder.
Soon it was joined by a trumpeting sound. “Whoa!” Stavir said.
“Look out the window!” Neha shouted.
Outside the window, there was a parade of animals. There was a roaring lion, followed by a trumpeting elephant. Then came a spitting camel.
“Quick, eat another one,” Stavir said. “See if it comes too!”
Neha ate a giraffe. And one appeared! “Wow!” Neha said.
The lion bumped its nose on the front door. The elephant tapped the door with its trunk. “I think they want to come inside,” Neha whispered.
“I’m not so sure that’s a good idea,” Stavir said. Neha nodded.
“How do we get rid of them?” Stavir wondered.
“I have an idea,” said Neha.
Neha ate a lion cookie. Poof! The lion disappeared.
“Phew!” Stavir said. He ate an elephant cookie. Poof! It disappeared too.
Neha quickly ate a camel and Stavir ate a giraffe. Poof! Poof!
The kids looked at each other. “I love animal crackers even more now,” Neha said.
“Me too!” Stavir cheered.
