AgitAgueda

AgitAgueda is a festival of music and fun. It takes place in Portugal. It lasts for the whole month of July.

Over 3,000 people come to AgitAgueda every year. Visitors enjoy non-stop music performances. They also explore art exhibits.

Tasty food is a big part of AgitAgueda. Vendors sell salty fish and sweet pastry. People drink lots of wine.

While they are at the festival, some tourists visit a famous church called Igreja Matriz de Águeda. It was built in the 16th century. It is painted white and has fancy stained-glass windows.

One of the most famous parts of AgitAgueda is the Umbrella Sky Project. It is a functional art display created in 2011. Umbrellas are hung all over the city to provide shade. They also provide a bright and colorful atmosphere.

AgitAgueda is not the only famous festival in Portugal. Another well-known event is the International Sand Sculpture Festival. Artists build elaborate displays out of sand. There are workshops and contests. At night, the sculptures are lit up for all to enjoy.

St. Martin’s Day is another Portuguese festival. It is celebrated on November 11th. People eat chestnuts and enjoy bonfires and parties.

All of these smaller festivals are fun, but the most famous festival in Portugal is Carnival. There are Carnival parades all over Portugal that start on the last Friday before Lent. No matter what type of fun you are looking for, you’re bound to find it in Portugal!
