Luis Soriano is a teacher. The biblioburro was his idea. He runs the biblioburro. He does it on weekends. He does not get paid.
Luis lives in Colombia. Colombia is a country. It is in South America. Some parts are dangerous. It is dangerous to ride to farms. But Luis does it anyway. He brings books to the children.
The children write stories. They bring them to Luis. They read them out loud. Many are true. Many are sad. Luis listens. The children listen. One girl’s sister died. A bomb killed her. One girl heard gunshots. She ran and hid.
Luis says, “We will not forget this. It is sad. Where will we put this story?”
“Behind us,” say the children.
“Behind us,” says Luis. “We will leave it there. We will leave it behind us.”
Then it is time to be happy. The children get books. They bring back their old ones. They take new ones.
A man made a movie about Luis. Lots of people saw it. They wanted to help Luis.
They sent books. Now Luis has a lot of books. He is very happy. So are the children.
