When he was 18 years old, Sam Cox dreamed of covering his house in doodles. People thought it was a weird idea, but he never gave up on it. Ten years later, his dream came true.
Sam started doodling as a kid. He was inspired by Tom and Jerry and Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoons. An artist named Keith Haring also inspired him. Eventually his art became famous. People called him Mr. Doodle. His art sold at auctions for millions of dollars.
A few years ago, Sam used his earnings to buy a mansion. It had 13 rooms. Sam painted it completely white. He thought the white walls and furniture were a perfect canvas for his doodles.
Sam covered everything in doodles. He drew on the walls, the furniture, and even the television. He started drawing on the house in 2020. He had a lot more time to work on it because of the pandemic. He used 238 gallons of white paint, 286 bottles of black drawing paint, 401 cans of black spray paint, and 2,296 pens.
Some areas of the house had different themes. Sam drew Noah’s Ark inspired doodles in the hallway. On the stairs, he drew a picture of heaven. Most of the doodles were made up as he went along. And he didn’t fix any mistakes.
People have offered to pay a lot of money to buy Sam’s doodled house. But he isn’t interested in selling it. Sam and his wife are happy living there, even though it hurts their eyes sometimes. They might start to give online tours so people can see the house. But they never plan to leave it.
