Sofia slept over at Evie’s house. “What do you want for breakfast?” asked Evie.
“What do you usually have?” asked Sofia.
“On weekends my dad makes pancakes,” said Evie.
“That sounds good,” said Sofia. “I’ve never had pancakes.”
“Never?” asked Evie. “Then you’re in for a treat!”
The pancakes were a treat. They were fluffy and sweet. Sofia and Evie ate them with butter and syrup. They filled some with strawberries.
“These are yummy!” said Sofia. “They remind me of tortillas. We have tortillas at home. They are also made of flour. They are also round.”
“Wow!” said Evie. “Those sound good too. I’ve never had tortillas.”
“Never?” asked Sofia. “Then you’re in for a treat!”
A few days later, Evie went to Sofia’s house. Sofia’s mom made tortillas. She filled them with beans and cheese.
“These are great!” said Evie. “I see what you mean. They are like pancakes.”
“Round and yummy!” said the girls together.
