KTVO On-Air Personalities Read to Students, Surprise Class with Free Books

KTVO is a local Sinclair Broadcast Group affiliate in Kirksville, MO.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Nearly two-thirds of fourth graders in the U.S. are struggling to read at grade level, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

Simply having access to books helps kids become more successful in school and beyond.

KTVO is trying to do its part to help.

On Tuesday, "Good Morning Heartland" Anchor Jordan Bahr and Meteorologist Matt Gunn, as well as KTVO Senior Anchor John Garlock visited Faith Lutheran School in Kirksville and spent time reading storybooks to students.

One class was lucky enough to get a bag of storybooks for each student, courtesy of Reading is Fundamental.

The timing was perfect, as many of the classes were celebrating the 120th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Suess.

KTVO is celebrating National Reading Month by partnering with Reading is Fundamental, and our parent company Sinclair, for "Sinclair Cares: Supporting Children's Literacy."

Just $4 can put a new book into the hands of a child.
