Voices for Literacy Collaborative Launches “Literacy Trivia” Campaign: Online trivia quiz offers an engaging way to educate the public about literacy issues

Washington, D.C. – This past weekend, as families nationwide celebrated the impact that mothers have on their children’s lives, the Voices for Literacy collaborative launched a new online quiz highlighting the influence of maternal education levels on children’s future academic success.

“Literacy Trivia” challenges literacy advocates and trivia fans to test their knowledge and raise awareness of literacy issues with questions such as “What percent of children whose mothers did not complete high school are ready for kindergarten?” The quiz, available at www.voicesforliteracy.org, also covers topics ranging from early childhood through adult literacy.

Voices for Literacy, which launched in February 2017, brings together five partner organizations: the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, the Coalition on Adult Basic Education, Digital Promise, Pi Beta Phi, and Reading Is Fundamental. The goal of the collaborative is to maximize the expertise and resources of the partner organizations to amplify the national conversation on literacy.

The group is committed to taking meaningful action to support and improve literacy rates in the United States, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity for education, no matter their age. “Literacy Trivia” is the second in a series of three digital social campaigns designed to engage literacy advocates in every corner of the nation.
