Tom Plath joined International Paper in 1991. He completed his career with IP at the end of 2024. He began with the company as an HR associate at the Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He completed his IP career as Chief HR Officer (CHRO) in the position of SVP, HR and Corporate Affairs. Highlights of his 33 years career with IP included a General Management role of a distribution business in Chicago and two different business roles in the company's European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
Tom is a member of the board of directors for the Health Transformation Alliance and a member of the board of regents for Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. He is also chairman of the advisory board for Chelan Valley Farms, a start-up winery in Washington state.
Tom received his bachelor’s degree in education from Martin Luther College and his MBA from Vanderbilt University.
Tom and his wife Lisa have been married for 38 years. They live in Germantown, TN, just outside of Memphis. Lisa is a director of a public library. Tom and Lisa have three adult children and seven grandchildren. They have a renewed interest in childrens' books because of those seven young gifts in their life.
